The affair was brief
Tucked in the darkest corners of a dream
Deeply hidden, and yet no feelings of relief
Bones of glass as it would seem
With fingers tracing signs
One step down Rue Carnot
Footsteps following the simplest of lines
No sense of the direction my city would go
It was a suitor no man surpassed
Air filled with fragrance sweet
This was neither the first nor last
That we would meet
And without a sound, this city of light
Took my hand and said goodnight
